In order to actively participate in the people-to-people and cultural exchanges among SCO countries, BFA, with the support of the State Film Administration, announced at the SCO Film Festival held in Qingdao, Shandong Province, in June 2018 that it would provide a one-year film-making training program to young filmmakers from SCO member countries and observer countries. This program will combine theoretical learning with experiential learning, and take the producing of a short film of 5-10 minutes as the result of the completion and screen them. The short films shall meet the professional technical requirements of the film industry, reflect certain aesthetic and artistic values, and embody the spirit and tenet of SCO. After a year of careful preparation by BFA, young filmmakers from SCO member states and observer states were selected to participate in the project at BFA.

The SCO national film production project provides the participants with a stage to fully present themselves. Li Ran hoped all the participants would gain something in this year and looked forward to their graduation short films.

KRAVCHENKO YEKATERINA from Kazakhstan gave a speech on behalf of the new students. She firstly expressed her gratitude to the State Film Administration of China and BFA for giving her such an opportunity to learn about film-making. It has always been her dream to make short films based on her own story. She also hoped to learn and make progress together with students from other SCO countries through this project.

After that, representatives of the lectures and teachers from the International Student Affair Office also explained the problems that need to be paid attention to in teaching and daily life from their own perspectives.
