At noon on September 21, 2017, the 4th Asian University Student Film Festival held a closing ceremony at the central auditorium. The four-day Asian Students Film Festival was successfully concluded.
The guests at the closing ceremony included Professor Sun Lijun, Vice President of Beijing Film Academy, Professor Noda Yoshito, Head of School of Art of University of Japan, Zhang Jian, Vice Chairman of Beijing Film Academy Council, Kimura Masashi, Vice Head of Art of School of University of Japan, Mr. Masayuki Suo, Japan's famous director, Masui Shoji, Japanese producer, Xia Gang, Chinese director Xia Gang, Li Xun, researcher at China Film Archive (China Film Research Center), Kim Sung-soo, Korean film director, Terawaki Ken, Japanese film critic, Professor Wu Guanping, Department of Film Studies of Beijing Film Academy Professor, Associate Professor Li Ran, Dean of International School of Beijing Film Academy, Professor Guan Ling, Vice Dean of Art, Department of Art, Drama and Film-and-Television of China Communication University, Professor Huang Dan, Director of Department of Screenwriting and Film Studies of Beijing Film Academy, Professor Li Jianping, Dean of Animation School of Beijing Film Academy, as well as other teachers from China Communication University, University of Japan, Dongseo University, Qingxing University and Central University.
Professor Sun Lijun, Vice President of Beijing Film Academy spoke at the closing ceremony and congratulated on the success of the film festival and summed up the basic situations of the screening, communication and master classes, and expressed his gratitude to director Masayuki Suo and director Tian Zhuangzhuang. He said that the work of the film festival performed in an orderly manner could not be inseparable from the organization and cooperation between various departments, and the translation and reception 50 volunteers by schools and departments of Beijing Film Academy, Beijing Diplomatic Academy, Beijing Foreign Studies University, University of International Business and Economics, University College London, Osaka City University and other institutions Finally, he thanked the Beijing Film Academy for its hard work and expressed his congratulations to the winners. He said that Beijing Film Academy was willing to work with them and to provide a platform for display, exchange and cooperation for young filmmakers in Asian countries and to continue to contribute to the creation of a world-renowned cultural exchange brand.
The film exhibition set a gold medal, two silver medals, three bronze medals and two jury awards.
Li Xun, jury of the film exhibition and researcher of China Film Archive (China Film Research Center) announced the jury award to Grandma Kogji (Japan) and Has your senior relative ever asked you that have you got a lover yet? (Thailand), Professor Nan Renying from Dongseo University, and Professor Cui Zhenren from Central University awarded the winners.
Kim Sung-soo, jury of the film exhibition and South Korea's famous director announced the bronze medals, the winners were: Place Full of Seagulls (Japan), Hamster (South Korea), My Chemical Love (South Korea). Professor Guan Ling, Vice Dean of Art, Department of Art, Drama and Film-and-Television of China Communication University, Kimura Masashi, Vice Head of Art of School of University of Japan, and Professor Jin Tingxuan from Dongseo University awarded the winners.
The silver awards were announced by Terawaki Ken, Japanese film critic and jury of the film exhibition and the winners were Sunlight (Japan) and Birth and Rearing (China). Masayuki Suo, famous Japanese director awarded the winners.
Xia Gang, famous director and jury of the film exhibition, revealed the final gold medal winner: Mild Fever (South Korea). Professor Sun Lijun, Vice President of Beijing Film Academy, and Professor Noda Yoshito, Director of Art Department of University of Japan, awarded the winner.
After the awarding ceremony, Professor Sun Lijun grandly briefed us on Professor Noda Yoshito. Professor Noda had been working hard for 12 years on the position of Director of Department of Art of University of Japan. He was the cochairman of Asian College Students Film Festival Organizing Committee. He contributed significantly to promotion and development of Asian University Students Film Festival, and Japan and even Asian film education. Mr. Noda would soon retire from the position. Professor Sun Lijun said that on such an occasion where Chinese, Korean, Japan and Thailand friends gathered, he on behalf of Beijing Film Academy and the Organizing Committee of the film festival expressed his sincere respect and gratitude to Professor Noda.
Professor Noda said he was very surprised and grateful. He hoped that more young directors could use the film festival as a stage, and that the Asian College Students Film Exhibition could present more young directors to Asia and to the world. Finally, he thanked Beijing Film Academy, the organizer of the film festival and all the volunteers of the film festival.
After the closing ceremony, all the staff and the winners, judges, teachers and students take a photo together and conclude the four-day event jointly presented by college students from China, South Korea, Japan and Thailand.
