From December 1 to 3, the Fourth International Forum on China Film Education sponsored by BAF and organized by Advanced Innovation Center for Future Education of BFA and China Film Education Research Center was successfully held.

The forum gathered over 80 representatives from BFA and Chulalongkorn University, Beijing Normal University, Communication University of Shanxi, Shanghai University, Renmin University of China, Shanghai Theatre Academy, Tianjin Normal University, Tianjin Polytechnic University, Nanjing Normal University, Northeast Normal University, Inner Mongolia Normal University, Shenzhen University, Communication University of China, Nanguang College, Capital University of Economics and Business, Xi’an International Studies University, Beijing Youth Politics College, Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Chongqing Technology and Business University, Northwest University of Political Science and Law.

The forum, themed by mass decentralization: world experience and Chinese characteristics, delves into film education in stages, at levels and in types in the eco-system of film education. The forum discusses ways to promote all round development of film talents through the film education, and ways to effectively train target groups.

Hou Guangming, Secretary of the Party Committee of BFA and Director of Future Image Advanced Innovation Center for Future Education attended the opening ceremony and made a report. Hou Guangming pointed out, after the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, to fulfill new objectives, a new journey of film education must be taken. Now, the society is in need of versatile movie masters, film craftsmen, and high level audience. Film education shall be discussed from different viewpoints with the theme.

Hou Guangming underlined that, film education in the new era must be promoted in line with national strategies and cultural development; film education is set to develop all round talents that contribute to social progress.

The forum consists of 4 sub-forums that gathered 13 experts from Beijing Film Academy, Beijing Normal University and Huanghe Science And Technology College. Film education and practice teaching were discussed in the forum. Excellent teachers from Beijing Film Academy introduced the latest teaching results in detail. They introduced practice teaching and teaching system building in terms of director, drama, performance, photography, recording, editing, fine arts, animation, film technology, foreign student development. Scholars from other universities and colleges also made in-depth introduction to teaching practice such as film adaptation and drama teaching.

The forum also had an exhibition of young micro-films. Prize-winning films of the national secondary school students original film contest. Experiencing movies and films in Beijing Youth Philanthropy Film Festival were screened and works of Filming Camp were screened. Such works aroused a heated discussion among the participating experts.

Teachers from colleges and universities gathered at the International Forum on China Film Education. They discussed about short supply of professional talents, redundancy in low quality graduates, fierce market of higher film education, and unknown vocational education in the future. Besides, teachers from universities and primary and middle schools discussed on basic film education and film quality education amid aesthetic education that is underlined by the state government.
